Discover Amboseli

Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp is located just outside of Amboseli National Park in Kenya.

It is approximately a 5-hour drive from both Nairobi and Mombasa.

Directions by Road

Head south from the Mombasa Road on the C102. At Kimana turn right onto C103 to Amboseli National Park. Just before arriving at Kimana Gate, take the last road on the right. Follow this road to the end where it turns right and heads straight into Camp.

Airstrip pick up / drop off

Airstrip pick up and drop off can be arranged in advance, if required, ensuring an easy transition to and from the camp.

It is approx 30 minutes from Amboseli airstrip to Tulia. As the majority of the flights from Nairobi land in the morning, before our normal check-in, we offer guests coffee and pastries before taking them on a game drive. Afternoon flights from Nairobi usually arrive at 14:00 hrs.

Most flights from Mombasa land around 9:00 am and we take guests on a game drive before heading. Connecting flights to the Maasai Mara and Diani are also available.

Common Questions

See some of our most frequently asked questions below for more information.

Where is Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp located?

Tulia Amboseli sits on the edge of Amboseli National Park with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The climate is semi-arid: generally hot and dry with two short rainy seasons. Days are warm year-round and nights can be noticeably cooler — ideal for game drives and dramatic Kilimanjaro panoramas when the sky is clear.

How do I get to Tulia Amboseli?

You can reach the camp by road (about 4–5 hours from Nairobi), by air via the Amboseli airstrip, followed by a short drive to camp, or by train from either Nairobi or Mombasa. Private transfers can be arranged.

Is Tulia inside Amboseli National Park?

Tulia is located just outside the park boundary, giving guests easy access to game drives inside Amboseli while allowing for quieter nights, guided walks, and sundowners in our private concession.

What wildlife can I expect to see?

Amboseli is world-famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic Kilimanjaro backdrop. You may also spot lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and over 400 bird species.

Do you offer guided game drives?

Yes. Expert driver-guides lead twice-daily game drives inside Amboseli National Park. Private vehicles are available on request for added flexibility.

Can I do a bush walk or cultural visit?

Yes. Guided walks and visits to nearby Maasai communities can be arranged to learn about local traditions and conservation efforts.

Do you have electricity 24 hours a day?

Yes. The camp runs on solar power with backup systems for 24-hour lighting and charging.

What is the dining experience like?

Meals are freshly prepared by skilled Kenyan chefs using seasonal produce, some from the camp’s own garden. Dining overlooks a wildlife-rich waterhole, with options for bush breakfasts, sundowners, and private dinners under the stars.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Absolutely. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs are happily accommodated with advance notice.

When is the best time to visit Tulia Amboseli?

Wildlife viewing is excellent year-round. The dry season (June–October) offers clear skies and classic Kilimanjaro views, while the short rains (November–December) bring lush scenery, some of the best photographic opportunities and great birding.

Days average 25–30°C (77–86°F); mornings and evenings are cooler, so bring a warm layer.

What is Tulia’s approach to sustainability?

Tulia operates with a light footprint — using solar power, banning single-use plastics, supporting local communities, and sourcing produce locally wherever possible. The majority of staff are from neighboring Maasai communities, and Tulia provides training, career growth, and fair employment opportunities.

What is included in my stay?

Accommodation, meals, selected drinks, game drives, park entry fees (if stated), and transfers are typically included. Exact inclusions vary by package.

What should I pack?

Light clothing, a warm layer for mornings/evenings, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hat, and binoculars.

Do you accept children?

Yes. Tulia is family-friendly, and private vehicles are recommended for families with younger children.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit cards and bank transfers are accepted. We do not accept cash payments.
